Granger on Democrats’ Second Appropriations Package

Press Release

WASHINGTON – Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX) issued the following statement after opposing the Democrats' second appropriations package, H.R. 3055, which includes Commerce, Justice, and Science; Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration; Interior and Environment; Military Construction and Veteran Affairs; and Transportation and Housing and Urban Development. The measure passed with a final vote of 227 to 194 - all Republicans present opposed the measure.

"House Democrats have wasted opportunity after opportunity to pass meaningful, bipartisan appropriations bills," said Granger. "Instead, they have written bills that irresponsibly increase spending and include partisan riders that Republicans simply cannot support.

"The second appropriations package is as misguided as the first. It jeopardizes our nation's security and over-burdens already burdened industries. This package, just like the first, has no chance of being signed into law.

"I will continue to work with my colleagues to develop a reasonable budget caps agreement and try to resolve these concerns in a final appropriations package."
