Granger on State and Foreign Operations Bill

May 10, 2019
Press Release
WASHINGTON – Today, the State and Foreign Operations Subcommittee met to consider its appropriations bill for fiscal year 2020. The measure was reported out of the Subcommittee and is expected to be considered soon by the Full Committee. While the bill funds many bipartisan priorities that support America's engagement around the world and promote our economic and national security, Republicans expressed their concerns about problematic provisions and the funding levels in the bill.

"Two appropriations bills have now targeted pro-life initiatives," said Top Appropriations Committee Republican Kay Granger (R-TX). "Unfortunately, the Democrats continue to include partisan riders aimed at weakening important measures that protect life.

"I do not support the State and Foreign Operations Bill as currently drafted and will work with my colleagues to improve this legislation as it moves through the appropriations process so that it reflects more reasonable funding levels and controversial language is removed."
